Tonicella marmorea is a species of chiton from the Arctic Ocean and the North Atlantic Ocean. It was first described by the Danish missionary and naturalist Otto Fabricius who spent five years as a missionary in Greenland, studied the wildlife in great detail, and wrote Fauna Groenlandica in 1780 on his return to Denmark; this work included descriptions of 473 animals, 130 of them being new to science.
