What Is a Cataloging Project?

A cataloging project is a community-driven species survey focused on a specific area, habitat, or taxonomic group. Participants record wildlife sightings β€” plants, birds, insects, fungi, and more β€” building a living database of what lives in Antsiranana.

Unlike one-off observations, cataloging projects create long-term records that researchers, land managers, and conservationists rely on to track population trends, detect invasive species, and measure the health of local ecosystems. Every observation you add directly strengthens that scientific foundation.

Projects are open to everyone β€” from seasoned naturalists to curious beginners. All you need is a phone, a bit of curiosity, and a willingness to look closely at the world around you.
